Yogalates is the fusion of Eastern & Western, Modern
& Ancient techniques of mind and body approach to physical
development
cross between Yoga and Pilates. It is a totally innovated &
motivated system
combining the union of both these brilliant art forms.
YogalatesTM is
a
movement
system that is strenuous and safe where all the major muscle groups are
stretch and strengthen. Thus, developing slenderness rather than bulk
which in turn helps you to achieve that coveted streamlined
shape. It enhances posture, based on the balance of muscle tone and
awareness, teaching you the fundamentals of functional movement
learning
to isolate your muscle groups. Its main focus is to strengthen your
centre, Joseph Pilates termed this as “ the Girdle of Strength” or your
core postural muscles where your abdominals, lower back, pelvic floor
& buttocks meet. It is this area that is the point between your
right and left, upper and lower parts of your body.
You learn to work
and move from this point activating your
‘navel to spine’ creating a very safe form of movement. It enhances
spinal, pelvic awareness and strength. yogalatesTM
also works with Dyna bands to replicate the Pilates Machines working
with resistance training, which is excellent for building and
lengthening
muscles.
It also fuses the
two renowned breathing systems of Yoga (The
Ujjayi
breath which produces a serene effect on the nervous system, producing
calmness and a trouble free mind) and Pilates Lateral, Thoracic
breathing system where you use and activate the abdominal muscle
continually throughout the practice. This creates a trimmer waist,
flatter belly,
enhancing stamina, endurance as you expand the lungs to the side
stretching
the intercostal muscles allowing the lungs to work to their full
capacity while protecting and strengthening your lower back.
YogalatesTM is
excellent
for strengthening bad backs, post natal women (stabilizing,
strengthening the pelvis, pelvic floor & abdominal muscles) ,
arthritis , osteoporosis , General tone and fitness creating a sense of
inner
calm, relaxation, health and well-being .
